Designation: President of PERKOM

Email : ahloon@kuittho.edu.my

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lee Yee Loon has been involved in engineering education for over 27 years. He is currently the Deputy Director (R&D), Centre for Research, Consultancy and Continuing Education of Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (KUiTTHO). His research interest is focused on the development of non-destructive test methods and the utilization of alternative materials for sustainable construction integrated with trans-national flood mitigation and rain water harvesting. He has developed a water permeability test system and a concrete mix design nomograph to promote durable concrete construction. He has spearheaded the experimental production of micronised silica and several silicate composites for acoustic thermal insulation (Patent Pending: PI 20033400). Recent research projects in collaboration with several local industries has been conducted with the use of lightweight concrete containing palm oil clinker derived from biomass with encouraging findings. He is a member of the Concrete Practices Focus Group of Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB). A research grant of RM1.3784 million awarded by CIDB to develop a blended cement for waterproofing applications is in progress.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ir. Low Kaw Sai has been involved in engineering education and work for over 29 years. He is currently the Associate Professor in Faculty of Engineering & Science, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. His fields of teaching are in soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering & structures. His research interest is focused on energy efficient construction, industrialised building system of construction, soil stabilization and bamboo-geotextile system to support construction over soft ground. He has published about 18 technical papers in national/international conferences/seminars/workshops. He has initiated and pioneered practical researches into areas such as: a) Bamboo-reinforced soil (coined "geobam") for slope stability and to support heavy construction over very soft ground, and b) timber space frames. Fruitful 'Geobam' research subsequently found application in a large-scale project to support 167-acre wide New Miri Supply Base over soft swampy ground in Sarawak, Malaysia.
